Service Projects

As part of our emphasis on Service and on the Patrol Method, Troop 346 has instituted a new Patrol Service Project Requirement. Click on the following link to review these requirements.

REQUIRED PATROL SERVICE PROJECTS (September 1, 2004 - April 1, 2005):
PATROL SERVICE PROJECT.

Ferrets Our patrol project was working at the Humane society of Wright County. We worked from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock on Saturday November 13th. We cleaned out their storage rooms, sheds and filled in potholes in the dog kennels. Graham F., Garrett L., Tim E., and Timmy V. were all there.
Wolverine On Saturday the 15th, we made about 200 sandwiches for the Dignity Center at my church, who will freeze them to give to needy people in Minneapolis. we made an assembly line to make it more efficient.
Cobra On Saturday October 18th, everyone in the Cobra Patrol did a service project from 12:30-2:30 pm sorting clothes, shoes, books, and toys for an oganization that sends those items to orphanages in Africa and Ukraine.This was our patrol service project.

Bobcat 11/13/04 The Bobcat Patrol did our patrol service project. We cut buckthorn at Glen Lake elementary school in Minnetonka. We worked from 1:00-4:00. The scouts that attended were Paul W., Greg F., Andrew G., Evan F., and myself. There were two dads that came. Jon B., and Jon F. We cut A LOT. In the end there was a pile 9-10' tall! It was really fun!
Gator The Gator Patrol worked on the service project with the Scorpion Patrol . We filled drinks up for a couple of hours at the Minnetonka Fire/Police Department open house. We were helping the fire department. Five of the six members of our patrol showed up.
Scorpion The Scorpion Patrol completed a service project on October 5. The Patrol helped the City of Minnetonka have its annual Fire Department and City-Wide Open House on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Civic Center Campus, 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard. The Scorpion patrol helped serving hot dogs and pop in the fire station, and helping keep the area clean. James H., Alan R., Henry M., Alex S., and Patrick K. helped out from the Scorpion Patrol. Also some new Scouts helped out.
Wolves The Wolf patrol worked from 5:30 to 7:30 on 12/20/04 at Cub foods at 7 hi bagging groceries and carrying them out to cars. There were 5 of us. T.J. S., Matt W., Matt J., Nicholas Y., David H. When people wanted to tip us we told them we were doing this for the Boy Scout community service, but they could put it in the Salvation Army Kettle outside if they liked.
Vipers We did our Toys for Tots Service Project 12/13/04 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the warehouse in New Hope. We sorted and packaged toys for three hours. The categories were: 0 - 3, girls 4-8, boys 4-8, girls 9-12, boys 9-12, girls 13 - 16 and boys 13-16. The Marines told us what to do. There weren't many toys for ages 13 - 16. Some people spent $250. on gifts. The Marines thought we helped them a lot. Out of nine, six showed up: Mark D., Vismay M., Dan B., A.J. G., Bennett K., and Ben S.
Barbarians Who: These scouts of my patrol went, Drew, Mitch, Aaron, Jon, Jake, Jack, Wil, and I.
The adults that went were Mr. Linde and Mr. Miller.
What: We went to the Toys for Tots and helped the marines there sort the toys.
When: We left Mr. Miller’s house at 12:00, arrived at 12:30 and ended at 3:30.
Where: At the Toys for Tots facility run by the marine reserves.
That is the info of what we did and who went and when.
Moose The Moose Patrol service project was working at the fire station at the open House in Minnetonka. Everyone did their job. We filled up pop and served them to all the people. We cleaned up spill and talked with many people. We were in the food stand where they had hotdogs and pop. Everyone was there but one. We worked most of the of the Open House which lasted from 5-8 pm.

Jaguar Five members of the Jaguar Patrol handed out 500 fliers for ICA foodshelf for 3 hours. They also collected monetary and food donations. They collected $158.85 and about 20 bags of food. - July 20, 2004.

Gator Troop 346 ICA Foodshelf Cleanup Service Project - April 17, 2004.
Scorpion Scorpion Patrol (six scouts) helped clean up Lake Minnewashta Park. They spent an hour picking up trash near the playground and picnic areas. Then a gardener taught them about identifying and removing Buckthorn. They then spent two hours cutting and pulling up invasive Buckthorn plants - May 1, 2004.
Wolves Members of the Wolves Patrol spent about three hours picking up trash along the trail from the Minnetonka Community Center (Minntonka Boulevard & Williston Road) to the Westwind Shopping Center - July 21, 2004.

We will be submitting these projects to the national "Good Turn For America" project for further recognition.
